Biography: Charles Fischer, Manager
Charlie Fischer is a lifelong enthusiast when it comes to helping the less fortunate. His dreams came true when he became the Manager of Canterbury Enterprise Sheltered Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and also an AAS in Administration of Justice . Charlie earned his Non-Profit Leadership & Management Graduate Certificate from University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2007. In August 2006 with 24 years of business management experience, this native of Breeze, Illinois, joined Canterbury Enterprises. His passion for helping others has led him to work with dozens of organizations including St. Louis Cares, Operation Food Search, Epworth Center and Habitat for Humanity. It was on a church mission trip to Hungary that he came to learn of the managerial job opening at the sheltered workshop in Shrewsbury, Missouri.
Charlie is or has been actively involved in many business, community and service organizations including
- Missouri Association of Sheltered Workshop Managers;
- Webster Groves Chamber of Commerce (serves on the Board of Directors);
- Kirkwood-Des Peres Chamber of Commerce;
- Shrewsbury Lions Club (serves on the Board of Directors);
- St. Louis Cares Program, division of the United Way;
- St. Paul School Advisory Board of Directors (Past President).
